R6.0.1CF1 on V5R1 AS/400 server. Seeing a significant number of clients
losing their ability to print properly after being upgraded From R5.0.X to
R6.0.1. Seen on HP Laserjet 8100, HP 693C, Lexmark OPTRAN, and other
versions of Lexmark. Newer versions of printers that have the ability to
sense print type coming in and are able automatically to switch back in
forth between Postscript and PCL and thus are not giving clients any
problems. Older printers (I don't mean ancient) models are having to have
their drivers switched to PCL to print properly but this is not a good
enterprise solution. Many locations have custom applications that require
Postscript so their printers cannot be changed to PCL just for Notes
printing In R5 we did not see this problem but in our initial R6 rollout
we are experiencing this issue frequently among bureaus. Obviously the
printer manufactures are stating it's not their problem and to purchase
many new printers is not an acceptable answer. Does anyone know what may
have changed in the R6 design to cause this effect? Any work arounds or
directions? Thanks.
