Domino doesn't like your modem configuration for HyperTerminal. Go to the Windows Control Panel and remove your modem configuration. In order for Domino to talk to your modem the port should be enabled through the Notes Client - File\Preferences\User Preferences\Ports. The port should be configured with the appropriate modem configuration. If the port is not enabled you will need to stop your server. Enable your port and restart Domino Server. My experience with this type of configuration is that the com port has a tendency to take over the cpu and Domino Server Tasks are slowed or paused until the cpu cycles are freed. If your server is routing mail or replicating then these tasks would be delayed until you disconnected. I have plugged a modem directly into the NT server and configured the modem and can dial-out via Hyper Terminal. I want to be able to dial in on this modem to then connect to the Domino server that is running on this same machine. In the Domino server console I keep getting the message: COM1 Device or unit # already in use. I have no other communication packages running on this machine. Cannot Domino answer the modem when it rings? When I dial the number the modem rings but Domino nor NT answers the modem. Any ideas?
