I avoid host table entries like the plague. I prefer to use a DNS, much less maintenance, and, more useful for others in your organization. But maybe that was your point, maybe he can find the other server because of a host table entry on his PC, but his server cannot because there is no valid DNS entry. If that is a concern then he could always try pinging the servers from each other. For example the server running DECS could use try pinging EP2. Also I try to avoid using specific IP addresses in my connection documents. I use names. Seems like the network gods here are always rearranging the network, changing addresses, converting to switches and whatnot. They've readdressed our 400's. Using addresses instead of names is just giving yourself more work. And, more area to go wrong when the lads play. And some people would blame them for change, (like who can stop change?) versus ourselves for not being adaptable. Fred Newberry <fnewberry@EFGUSA. Is your Domino Server IP Address defined in a Host Table entry on your PC ? And/or Do you have a Connection Document on your server that points your server name to the specific IP address of the Domino Server ? What Domino is saying is that it basically cannot find itself. The connection document should help. Check out the Release Notes for this specific issue, and solution. -----Original Message----- From: jan [mailto:janek@energoprojekt.com.pl] Sent: Tuesday, October 10, 2000 9:02 AM To: DOMINO400@midrange.com Subject: DECS for AS400 I have a problem with DECS for AS400.
