I think we have to assume it's the death, and take action accordingly. Many consultants I know will not take a full-time job, (some have been on the beach 6 months), because they think things will improve. I think they will not improve, because the bulk of new develoment work seems to be on other platforms. The AS/400 is kept, when it is, to do what is does, run the core business. They dont; need consultants for that apparently. CONSULT400@midrange.com wrote: > > The same is true here in the Los Angeles area. In 23 years in the midrange arena (18 of them as a contractor), the longest I had ever gone without a contract was one day. At the beginning of this year, I was without a contract for two MONTHS, and know of two other capable contractors who were in the same boat during that period. Does anyone think this is a temporary slump in the market, or is this the death of the RPG contract market? Bob Lancaster
