Have you worked with network location names? It's the same syntax as you would use to map the network drive. You can use the actual IP address, or, better, use the name of the server, which ought to be in a local DNS or your HOSTS file on the PC (DNS is preferred). If your iSeries is called servername, then you can use

\\servername\sharename\filename.ext

Or, with IP address (not recommended for production)

\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\sharename\filename.ext

You will have had to set up the share with NetServer.
