I'm posting this again, because I didn't get a reply the first time. I would ask the network admins here if I knew what to ask them - they would just look at me funny if I said i needed the 400 to have access to my pc.... Can any of you help? I'd really like to start using code, but if I can't get it to connect to my pc, it's a little tough... ;) thanks for any help, Rick ------original message-------- I'm trying to get started again using code, but I'm having trouble getting STRCODE to work. Yesterday, I worked from home through a vpn and cable modem and it worked fine, but this morning i get an error when I run STRCODE. I've tried both of these commands, and both give me the same error STRCODE SERVER(BAIRDR) RMTLOCNAME('mypc.ip.address') CMNTYPE(*TCPIP) PORT (*DFT) and STRCODE SERVER(BAIRDR) RMTLOCNAME(*RESOLVE) CMNTYPE(*TCPIP) PORT(*DFT) this is the error I'm getting: Message ID . . . . . . : EVF4000 Date sent . . . . . . : 06/04/03 Message . . . . : A TCP/IP communications error occurred. Cause . . . . . : A security error occurred on the PC. - The name of the error is ERR_SYSTEM. - The name of the function is AdeStartServer. As I said, everything was fine last night from home. I'm on a Novell network. Do I need to set up some kind of administrator authority for my pc? any ideas? thanks Rick
