OK, thanks. I've done that and my troubles have gone away. Thanks both to Dave and Violaine. They have to be compatible with each other as you have guessed, Dave Cheng, 905-413-4063 cheng@ca.ibm.com "Bill Roha" <Broha@stantinc.com> To: <code400-l@midrange.com> Sent by: cc: code400-l-admin@midra Subject: Re: Define Server Logon Problem - V5R1M0 SP5 (VA/RPG) nge.com 07/24/2002 11:29 AM Please respond to code400-l Violaine- (See the last paragraph for the "maybe" answer.) It seems it's a little more involved that I first thought. From within VA/RPG, I can select project/run/winnt to run it and it picks up the User ID and password just fine. However, I also have installed this (in a previous release) on the (AS/400) server and made a shortcut on my PC to the exe on the server. I used to just click on that to run the version from the server. Now it gives me the "Signon to Server" box with the message of "Invalid User ID or password specified". "OK" takes me to a user ID/password prompt with the correct user ID filled in (but no password.) (Once I fill in the password, it runs as expected.) Is there something new I need to do so I can continue to use a shortcut to run the version from the server? (I have rekeyed the passwords just to make sure, but as you can see from paragraph 1 that is probably not the issue? Or does it have to do with the version on the server created in a different release...hmm...maybe that's it and it would work if the program were repackaged and reinstalled?) Bill Roha Stant Manufacturing Inc. broha@stantinc.com 765-825-3121 x440 >>> batthish@ca.ibm.com 07/24/02 10:09AM >>> Hi Bill, I think you will need to go back to the Define Server Logon (or Communication Console) and re-enter your passwords. In V4R5M1, the password encryption that VRPG uses was updated and it would seem that it is not handling your old passwords correctly. Hope this helps! I just upgraded to V5R1M0 SP5 from V3R2M3. I have multiple server logons defined with password required. I change the Remote Location to be the real one to make the connection. (The others have "random" character strings.) It used to be that it would take the password I entered in Define Server Logon and make the connection to the AS/400. Now it selects the correct User Name, but tells me the password is invalid and prompts for the password. How do I get it to go back to using the password I've defined in Define Server Logon?
