I think your problem should be fixed as suggested by Joel. The problem I referred is specific in the case when compiling in batch. Even though I checked 'Notify on completion', I did not get the completion message and the error list. I was lying when I said that the problem might have gone away in SP5. I have looked into this recently and discovered one of the scenarios. In my office, I use my internal Ethernet connection and at home, VPN. When I have VPN still enabled at work, this VPN connection becomes the first in the IP configuration which is grabbed by CODE for the feedback. Hence, nothing can be returned. Here are the items which can be checked for correct feedback IP address: 1. On a DOS window, issue IPCONFIG to see if your current PC IP address is the first in the configuration. - if not, see if you can disable this line on 'My computer->Network and Dial-up Connections'. 2. On AS/400, check the feedback IP address in your STRCODE user space by doing the following: - DMPOBJ OBJ(*CURLIB/STRCODE) OBJTYPE(*USRSPC) - WRKSPLF and option 5 on QPSRVDMP - F20 to right and one page down ( Should see an IP address above *TCPIP 4200'. That should be your PC's IP address). I am not sure if this is from the new PC install, Windows 2000, my upgrade to Client Access 5.1, or what. I noticed something similar from a post to this list on March 4, 2002 by Hak Lui on "Notify on Completion & Batch Compiles" who said there was a problem on Windows 2000 at SP4 but the problem didn't seem to occur when testing with SP5. I am on SP5 and I have that message hiding problem when compiling in batch. The flashing window in the bottom bar seems new from Windows NT but I would like to be able to just get there automatically when prompting, getting help, etc. The following are problems I am experiencing on my new PC on Windows 2000 I never had on my old Window NT PC: 1. Completion messages hide under all my windows on the destop. I have to minimize all my windows to see the messages. I heard from someone else who uses CODE/400 quite a bit that this sometimes happens to him but you never know when. I never had that happen before but it happens to me all the time now on Windows 2000. I heard that getting enough messages stacked up can even slow down the PC. 2. Prompting CL commands to the STRCODE session and then F3 does not automatically return to CODE/400. I have to use Alt+Tab. I found out that if I keep the STRCODE session window size down a little, I can click on the Editor session behind it instead of clicking on the tab at the bottom twice. 3. After a compile, the CODE/400 source window does not automatically pop up. I have to use Alt+Tab to get to the window that has the flashing tab. I know someone on Windows 2000 who kind of has this working. It returns to the command shell, not the source though. Why it is different is the mystery. 4. Using F1 for help, the browser brings up help and switches to the new window. But, if there is already a browser window open and I use F1, the browser session window flashes and I have to either use Alt+Tab or click on the window. 5. Getting help (F1) on a CL keyword goes to the STRCODE green screen instead of the CODE/400 Help. I can't remember if this is different or not but I thought I would mention it. The last time I experienced problems similar to this on my old PC was when I had RPGAlive installed. After uninstalling RPGAlive, all the problems were fixed. I wonder if there is something in Windows 2000 or some other software interfering like RPGAlive was interfering. RPGAlive being installed made me have to always manually switch between sessions. At least Windows 2000 sometimes takes you to screens automatically. All of these problems appear to be Windows 2000 problems but I am not entirely sure. I know some people who are experiencing these problems. Does anyone know if there is a setting that can be changed in Windows 2000 or CODE/400 that can help?
