Hi Phil, I hear what you are saying and actually can see how convenient it would be if we could view the value returned by some (or maybe all) BIFs. However, we need to remember that BIFs are still procedure (function) calls. Some of them (like %FOUND) simply return a value (sort of like indicators) while others actually perform somewhat nontrivial computations. In general, debuggers don't allow displaying a return from a procedure/subroutine calls directly. A simple workaround is to assign the return value to a variable, which is exactly what you wanted to hear - I am sure :-) While I don't think that your request is unreasonable, at this point I just don't see such changes occurring in the RPG compiler and underlying debug support.
