Thanks for the information Jon. I think our network is fast but the source I was loading in browse had 23,632 lines. It appears that using an autostart server decreases load time about in half. On a 450MHz PC with 196KB RAM, it took 30 seconds with an STRCODE session server but 15 seconds with an autostart server. On a 1GHz PC with about 256KB RAM, it took 17 seconds with an STRCODE session server but 9 seconds with an autostart server. I wonder why the autostart server appears to be about twice as fast as the STRCODE session server. I usually use an STRCODE session server in case I want to run host commands, use TurnOver compiling in the Editor, etc. I am getting used to the CL GUI prompting. I hope the lab is hopeful of speed increases too for SP4. Thanks, Craig Strong *** Jon Paris wrote *** >> I am still wondering if there is a way to increase the loading speed of programs into CODE/400. Are you sure it's not your system? Even when I was running a VPN over a dial up connection I never had much of a problem with the download speed. The speed with which it loads the library and member lists (and keeps forgetting the darn thing on saves - grrr) is truly sad, but the speed of source download is OK. Not to say it couldn't be a lot faster. I think the Lab are hopeful of significant speed increases in the area of 400 access in the next release but we'll have to wait an see. Jon Paris Partner400
