The DDS verifier might not be current; the strategy might be to get us to use CODE/400's screen design tool (I'm happy to use RLU after CODEDSU). Of course, SDA hasn't been current for years (no date/time data-type support; missing DDS window keywords, etc.). And we pay our licensing and support fees for what? Linux? Don't get me started. Code/400 V5R1 seems to be current for RPG. Okay, I'm started. Here's a very little Linux humor: A penguin is driving through Arizona on a hot summer's day when he notices his oil light is on. He gets out of the car and, sure enough, it's leaking oil all over the road. The penguin drives around the corner to a service station and asks the mechanic to take a look at it. The mechanic says he has a few others to look at first but if he comes back in an hour he can tell the penguin what is wrong with his car. The penguin agrees and goes for a walk. He finds an ice cream shop and thinks a big bowl of vanilla ice cream will really hit the spot seeing as how he's a penguin and it is Arizona in the summer, after all. He sits down at the counter and starts in on his ice cream, but since he has no hands, it's rather messy. By the time he's done, he has ice cream all over his flippers and his mouth...he's total mess. He walks back to the service station and the mechanic looks up. "It looks like you blew a seal," the mechanic says. "No, no," says the penguin. "It's just ice cream." -----Original Message----- From: code400-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:code400-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of rob@dekko.com Sent: Wednesday, August 22, 2001 1:47 PM To: code400-l@midrange.com Subject: Verifier version different from Compiler version for DDS I hear tell that the verifier version is antique. For example, using the LINE keyword in DDS is not supported. One of our people here reported this to IBM. They were instructed to submit a Design Change Request to get IBM to bring the verifier up to the current release level. They did, but I think that it should be a given that the verifier be up to date. Don't you?
