I agree it is inconsistant too, so I've opened internal APAR SE02644 to
track and fix the problem.

No brackets?!

Works without the brackets.

Not to be nitpicking, but that's inconsistant don't you think since
everywhere else you need the brackets.  Maybe a little hint not to use the
brackets would be nice, maybe in the error message like "Host server name
<NS not defined.  If you keyed brackets, remove them and try again." :)
