Sam, Compiling interactive or in a separate batch job is configurable via the CODE Program Generator. (Try compiling with prompt and then options->settings) If you submit your STRCODE job to batch (or use autoconnect - which also runs in a batch job), technically doing an interactive compile will mean doing a compile in the SAME job as the BATCH job which is used for those connections. You will feel like an interactive compile (you will not be able to access the host using CODE tools until your compile completes), but technically the compile is executing in a batch job. Leaving the batch setting on will mean that a NEW batch job will be created every time you compile. Again, QTEMP is unique to every job, so you will not be able to access the contents from a different job. Hope this helps! If I try running STRCODE as a batch job will that have a similar effect? Or will the STRCODE job still submit the compiles to batch?
