Right-click on your communications daemon, select Properties, select STRCODE
settings, blank out STRCODE user ID and STRCODE password.

WDT/400 is an extremely important strategic product for IBM (and for
developers like me); I'm sure it's slated for release in the UK. The most
frustrating situation is that some users say they have no problems while
others (myself included) experience problems periodically. WDT/400 will be
fantastic when some of the weirdness is cleaned up. The Toronto lab appears
to be pushing very hard to eliminate the remaining gremlins and it's
possible the initial release of WDT/400 was a North America release only to
facilitate problem resolution. Over here in the Colonies, I guess we're a
little more resilient!

Reeve,

Thanks for the help. I've tried clearing all of the Code servers defined on
the PC and that didn't help. When you say "clearing your STRCODE entries"
what do you mean?

I'm trying to connect to a V5R1 system, and it's on the latest Cum, plus
I've applied Violaine's PTF - I'm not sure if there are any others I'm
missing.

This is really frustrating - the client side code seems to be readily
available in the US, even with a fixpack available but IBM can't tell me
when it will ship in the UK.

Cheers
Robin

Robin, I've encountered this problem when going to both V4R5M1 and V5M1.

Somebody else in this NG suggested removing all your CODE/400 servers and
clearing your STRCODE entries. I did that, rebooted, recreated by CODE/400
servers, updated by STRCODE entries, and this particular problem went away
for me.

FYI: I couldn't connect to my system through my cable modem connection until
I applied the V4R5M1 OS/400 PTF's necessary to support V5R1 WDT/400. It's
probably a good idea to make sure all the OS/400 WDT/400 PTF's are applied.

Regards,
Reeve

Hi Violaine,

Still no joy I'm afraid - I get an error window on the PC EVF4028E,
connection from 192.168.0.27 has been ended by the daemon. CODE userid
ROBIN is not allowed to connect. Leaving the userid out gives the same
message but the userid is a long string of random gibberish.

The communications error log shows:
evfCons.java:[Error] The content of element type "ServerList" is incomplete,
it must match "(Server)+".

Cheers
Robin

Hi Robin,

There is a PTF which will fix your STRCODE problem. Please load 5722WDS PTF
SI01056. I will see that the web page gets updated.

As for the empty WDT folders, that is the way they should be. In V5R1M0,
you will no longer be able to install the product from the host. The folders
will only contains any files that make up part of any service packs
(installed to the iSeries host via PTFs). There should be client CDs (and I
think a DVD) to install the product.

thanks,

Hi,

Our shiny new V5R1 box has arrived, but the client bits of Websphere
Development Studio have not. I'm assured they're on back order, but there's
no delivery date. I have the directory tree for the host install
tantalisingly in the IFS, but there's nothing in the folders.

Trying to use the V4R5 version of Code I get a message on STRCODE that it's
not a valid STRCODE signature, and I'm getting no joy trying to use the
native server either - just error messages.

Is there a work-around for this? I'm shuddering at the prospect of having
to go back to SEU....

Cheers
Robin
