Rick,

First of all, I would like to point out that the product 5769PW1
skipped-shipped V4R3M0 (as did many others) which is why the version
installed on your system is V4R2M0.
Now, the evaluation copy you have is rather old (it pre-dates V4R3M0) which
is why V4R3M0 is not listed.

I would recommend that you go to our web page (see link below) and download
the latest (and greatest) evaluation copy for the new V3R2M3 version.
There have been a number of PTFs that have been shipped since the ones you
mention, and it is preferable that you try to use the most current. Once
you reboot, you should see the CODE Assistant, which will help you
determine the correct PTF level for your AS/400.

thanks,

Subject: Do I get this PTF?

With all the talk about Code/400 lately, I thought I would give the demo
another try since I could not get it running before (granted, I didn't
spend
a lot of time trying to hunt down the problem). I still cannot get it to
communicate between the AS/400 and the PC. The error box that is displayed
says:

Unable to exchange CODE signature with host.
The exchange failed due to a TCP/IP error - No data was received.
This error is probably caused by the fact that you have not installed the
back-end fix for CODE communications.
Please install one of the following fixes and refer to the README for
SP005.
V3R2M0: 5763PW1 SF49534
V3R7M0, V4R1M0: 5716PW1 SF49524
V4R2M0: 5769PW1 SF49535

Since we are at V4R3, I didn't think we needed a PTF. But out of curiosity
this time, I did a DSPPTF LICPGM(5769PW1) and it shows near the top of the
screen:

 Release of base option . . . . . . . : V4R2M0

Does the release level shown in the error message refer to the OS/400
release or 5769PW1 release? I assumed they would be the same, silly me. I
was very surprised when I saw this difference.

Thanks!
Rick
