I was a little too fast here...If you are going to use 'VALUE nnn THRU
mmm', you have to use level 88 for the condition.

Hi.

It is possible to do it the way you suggest.  The 'VALUE'-clause in this
context, only gives the variable an initial  value when the program is
loaded into memeory for execution.

Later on, in the pgm, the variable can be given different values, and
can be tested on in various ways.
