I figured it out yesterday and got it to work. I removed the error message since I'd rather just have red text on the screen show up. When I removed the error message, the screen would just run right past the read with no user input and report that the F3 key and help had been requested. By commenting out code, I narrowed the culprit to the place where I was checking the value of the field in the input record of the screen and comparing it to the user's allowed max value. I changed this to copy the field from the screen to a working storage field, and then checked the WS field. Some other minor issues were addressed also which I can't remember, but it is working fine now. Thank you all very very much for all of the help. I learned a whole lot through this and I hope some of you did also. I'm grateful. Brad
