OK, I've read over the posts and understand that the ERRMSG is the only
thing processed. Thanks.

I can do without the error message and just show the UNDER or OVER
fields. Actually, that is how I would prefer to do it. However, when
remove the ERRMSG, and only leave these:

 1770 A 53 18 27'OVER'
04/28/05
 1771 A N53 18 27'UNDER'
04/28/05

When Indicator 53 is off, my screen behaves as expected, and shows the
screen with OVER.

When Indicator 53 is on, when the screen write is done, the program
continues to the read, with no user input or screen actually showing up,
and Indicators 03 and 99 are on from the screen input indicators:

 180 A CF03(03 'Exit
Screen')
 190 A CA24(24 'TOTAL
ABORT')
 200 A HELP(99 'help
text')

Why does it do this?

Thanks. Brad
