Greetings, I have never tried to write to a tape directly, but I know that you would need to have a tape file defined on the AS/400/iSeries, then open/write that file/record. Otherwise, I would write to a physical file, and then save to tape. Others at work have done cobol to tape, and I will ask on Monday for info if you still need it.
