In a multiple format logical file, a record format can use only the fields
common to all the physical files on the PFile keyword for that record
format.
ex:
R A856HDR PFILE(EDI856HDR)
K LONO
K BONO
O STSCD COMP(NE 'OK')
S TRDPNRID COMP(EQ 'ACE')
S TRDPNRID COMP(EQ 'MEIJER')

R A85657SC PFILE(EDI85657SC)
K LONO
K BONO
K SHPSQ
O STSCD COMP(NE 'OK')
S TRDPNRID COMP(EQ 'ACE')
S TRDPNRID COMP(EQ 'MEIJER')

Join logical files combine different fields from more than one physical file
into a single record.

I'm intrigued:

I have not come across this before - please enlighten.

How can a logical specify two physicals without a join.

Yours in ignorance,

Chris
