David,

I currently work in a COBOL shop, and all I can tell you is that the only thing we use non-join multi-format logical files for is EDI purposes.  None of our programs are utilizing those types of files.  I dug around, and I have no definate answer for you.  Personally, I don't see how you could use one within the program.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Subject: Non-Join multi-PF logical file format

Can a COBOL program work with a non-join logical file record format which references more than one PF (more than one PF in the DDS PFILE entry) ?  I know RPG programs can NOT compile if they reference such a file.  Thanks.
