The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
The reason it needs to have two separate ODPs to the file is that it
needs to be able to not only retrieve records by either key or RRN
(assuming the file is keyed), but to sequence through the records either
by RRN or by key, at will.
It already does use an OVRDBF SHARE(*YES) if the user asks it to do an
OPNQRYF, and processes the file just fine (but in that case, it's
already opened in keyed mode first, by OPNQRYF itself, and so it only
loses the ability to sequence through the queried file by RRN).
Curiouser and curiouser.
