Frankly, I don't see the point of coding:

while (num=num)

If you want an infinite loop, wouldn't it be better to code:

for (;;)

Num isn't initialized in the below code so it's value is undetermined.

While (num=num) means assign the value of num to itself and if the result
is
not-zero, do the while.

While (num == num) means while num equals num (always true), do the while.

While (num=num) is VERY bad coding and should pretty much not be done.

Our system admin upgraded our test system's OS from V5R2 to V5R3 this
pass weekend. After the upgrade, one of the C program quit working. I
did a debug and notice the following defected code (note: num contains 0
when executing the while statement):

}


I changed the while (num=num) to while(num==num) to correct the problem.

My question is why while (num=num) working in V5R2?
