Well it is not really being _removed_ it was never in the new compiler.  The
new compilers (C and C++) _are_ the AIX compilers, and as such never
contained that support.  Admittedly it would be nice to have, but this is
the price we pay for getting the latest-and-greatest compilers and having
them available on every box for "free" even if the customer is not prepared
to pay for them

Frankly it is a trade-off I'm happy to make.
