Graham,
In order to print to an Intermec printer from an AS/400 outq, you will need software such as TL Ashford Barcode400 or Seagull's Bartender.

Kind of outside my circle but we print labels from Infor on our IBM i to
specialized printers.
I hate to comment because I may not be the most current on this as I
believe I've heard of some changes coming from others in the department
who deal with this and I don't have the details.
