Hello Wendy,

We are on LX 8.34 and use Spoolflex. We had the DRV / Spoolflex folks
create a template for us , that allows us to convert CST280 spool file to
Excel.

Last time I checked, DRV did not charge to create this. Check with you IT
department to see if they can request this template from DRV.

If you use IBM client Access for your interactive sessions, you can
activate the add inns function in excel to download data directly from the
i/series.

Wendy,

I have an RPG program which creates a work file of either a single-level
or indented BOM (it's selectable from a menu option) for a selected
Facility/Part/Method. The CL then uses Ariadne Software's CoolSpools
CVTDBFXL command to convert to excel and e:mail to the calling user.

I can provide some examples offline if of interest.

We also have a costed BOM version.

Has anyone ever found an easy way to get the fully indented bill of
material to excel? I have tried for years to get someone to write me
something to get the Bom - like BOM300 and costed bom CST300 to excel for
use by everyone from Sales to Mfg. I have downloaded BOM200 and
CST280 - I can get them to pdf. I can get them to excel with a tool
called spoolflex - but cannot get it in a usable format no matter what
mapping I try. I am not a programmer -- I'm in Accounting. I have
also used query to pull in the MBM bill of material table - but then you
manually or macro adding the indent - making sure to follow through
changing the quantities needed based on parents usage. Takes way too
much time to do it manually if doing more than one finished good. We
are LX 8.3.4 but have been trying to find something for several versions
now.

Lol -- have done it many times .....

We have Showcase Query I use to mine data from BPCS and Spoolflex we use
for a few reports to either PDF or excel. Can't use just the BPCS file
MBM - isn't indented - the report BOM200 and CST280 - well you all know
how BPCS layers /staggers the columns - very hard for a software to figure
it out and split it .
