The item is really the same item number but one had a color code at the end. Due to the way the user sets up the bom. We receive into item without color code an backflush item with 3 char color code ending. I told The users the resolution for this is use the same item in the bom that we receive especially if they ate not using the part with color code as it appears. But to answer your second question the user want the ability to transfer the inventory quantity from one part number to another to correct the inventory balance. They wanted to be able to do it with one transaction instead of two adjustment transactions of subtracting from one item an adding to another. An I assume bpcs would have something that does that instead of creating a new program to do it.

Thanks for the feedback.

This probably is not a good idea and undoubtedly would have undesired
cost implications. What is the scenario that would cause you to
consider automating this for a user? What happened to the item to
cause it to become another item?

I'm using BPCS v6.1. Does it has something similar to the Mass Location Transfer that allows you to transfer a Part number inventory to another part number. I'm aware that a use can do an adjustment on 1 part number and then an adjustment transaction on the other but Just thought I would ask the question before I create something new for the user.

Thanks
