Deactivating obsolete item master records is a complicated chore (as
illustrated by your note.) INV100 is supposed to do item master deactivation
..... but ..... anyone who has tried to use INV100 gets the impression that
the SSA programmer's intended outcome was intense user frustration.

If you work very hard and long on deactivating an item using INV100 you might
be successful. But if you then diligently inspect the results, you'll find
that INV100 fails to do a perfect job of checking the vanilla database for
references. It doesn't address item references invented by customizations
either.

ITEM UNDERTAKER software greatly automates the item deactivation process. It
does that while strictly observing the internal control requirements

Subject: BPCS LX Inventory PLC



We are attempting to use the PLC as a method of making a product obsolete.



Establishing the PLC, using '2' for all functions and entering the PLC on the
Item Maintenance screen works as desired. Attempting to enter an order line
with a product flagged with the PLC works as desired (a note is displayed
stating the product is not available due to PLC status). However, through
RMS order lines are created with products having a PLC and RMS seems to pay
no attention to the flag. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
