Thanks Rob,

Love to have some help and I'll check out the consult400 list. If I am posted off list then I probably won't see it. I have pretty much a whitelist only email filter. If I haven't sent it out or it doesn't originate from midrange, it gets dumped at the server.

This company hired me for other stuff and then lost their full time RPG guy so I became the temporary EDI/BPCS RPG programmer even though they know I don't have any EDI or BPCS experience. They do seem to have some sort of arrangement with a company called GXS so I should probably give them a call. This company dropped their BPCS support in 1999 and have been on their own ever since.

Just trying to help them in an extreme situation. I can handle the coding, but there seems to be a lot of moving parts in the EDI/BPCS environment so understanding how it all hangs together is my challenge.

You should probably punt this contract. By your asking if there's
anyone... you probably already got some off list offers of assistance, if
not, there's always the consult400 list.

Be that as it may, it's been a few years since I've done EDI. Yes, I
interfaced it with BPCS (405CD or maybe even earlier). Nowadays coworkers
are using the ECM or Electronic Commerce Manager module from Infor.
Apparently it makes feeding data into BPCS much easier than in the past.
Enough to the point where our EDI head guy retires in the spring he will
not be replaced but the programmer who helps him will probably take over
EDI (in addition to his current duties).

My rough guess as to how this all flows now is that you use an EDI
communicator and translator like Inovis (formerly Harbinger, formerly
Premenos, formerly ACS Network systems) to communicate with GEIS and parse
the EDI data into files. Then somehow you get it into a format that ECM
digs. Then fire up ECM and go from there.
