Ramona,

To my knowledge, BPCS will not do what you would like it to do
automatically. Within MPS/MRP, the Daily Lead Time Rate is only intended to
calculate the Release Date for a Planned Order. That is, MPS/MRP calculates
the required Planned Order Quantity using the various planning values such
as Order Policy Code, Lot Size, Minimum Balance, etc. Once the Planned
Order Quantity is determined, then the Daily Lead Time Rate calculates the
Release Date from the Due Date.
The calculation is: Planned Order Quantity / Daily Lead Time Rate = Number
of Days Lead Time. Then, Due Date - Number of Days Lead Time = Release
Date.

It sounds like your desire is to have MPS/MRP calculate the Planned Order
Quantity and then create multiple Planned Orders in the Daily Lead Time Rate
Quantity starting with the Due Date and backing up each Day until the full
Planned Order Quantity is covered. That logic could certainly be programmed
in the MPS/MRP generation. I have done that at another client.

Alternatively, I believe that in JIT Production Scheduling, there is a
function to create Firm Planned Orders over multiple Days in a specific
Quantity per Day. That is, you tell BPCS the Order Quantity and then it
will spread the Quantity over multiple Days. FPO's are created. This
function might satisfy your requirement, but it would be a manual process.
Take a look at this JIT function.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me offline.

P.S. I actually helped implement BPCS at Group Dekko back in the 1980's
(i.e. Lyall Electric) with Chris Edwards. You always had challenging issues
and developed creative solutions.

Thanks.

Subject: [BPCS-L] 4.05 CD Daily Lead Time Rate

BPCS version 4.05CD

Would like to know if anybody has an idea of how to use the facility
planning daily lead time rate but create multiple planned orders? We are
attempting to use the daily lead time as the daily capacity of the
finished good. The forecast is backing up the planned order to the
correct start date but we would like one planned order per day in order
to:

1) Space out the raw material planned orders, not all material is needed
on the first day of production

2) Create daily shop orders to dispatch to production

Any advice is appreciated.
