The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Thankyou.
You have identified for me which of the many SYS800 screens, and which
elements on that screen, are relevant to managing MRP methods, and how
method # 1 works.
If we have customer order for 50, forecast for 250, method 1 will plan 250,
but I think we need method 2 which will plan 300, where we use forecast to
plan delivery of raw materials that have 65+ days lead time, to be ready for
customer orders placed with no more than 20 days lead time.
Right now our forecast orders are supposed to be entered with due date that
is far enough out to cover the lead times. We are looking into changes in
how we do things for a variety of reasons related to trying to reduce
clerical time to get the job done, and lower risk of mind-numbing moving due
dates on forecasts without rethinking what makes sense, as we suffer from
the economy.
I need to think about whether it makes sense to have different method code
for before / after our 20 days time fence.
Some answers can lead to more questions.
Do MRP files contain some code showing where an exploded BOM requirement
came from: customer order; MRP100 forecast; minimum balance?

Happy I remain this functional: Wake up each morning; roll out of bed; feet
touch floor; I can stand up (sometimes need to push with arms); walk; get to
toilet; all familiar systems do their thing.

Set the defaults on SYS800 MRP System Parameters screen. (see below). You
can then override it for each item/fac combination if you are set up for
multi facility or each item if planning globally.
