Hi Rob and Paul,

The original question from Clare on this topic was about an upgrade of
V3 BPCS to i5/OS V5R4, and I did not send the link for the V5R4 Info
APAR when answering Clare because nothing on the V5R4 Info APAR relates
to required BMRs or PTFs for V4.05 BPCS CD (which is technically the
closest supported relative to V3 BPCS).

Rob, this link you have sent is valid for iSeries V4R5 - V5R2 only.

For Paul's question on 6.002 BPCS running on V5R4 please reference the
V5R4 Info APAR for BPCS

Hi Rob / Clare

We're currently running V6.0.02 on V4R5 and had plans to upgrade to a
newer iseries but came up against an issue with BMR's that were needed
to login to the iseries.
Do either of you know about this or have I been passed on a bit of dogdy
info?

Ta for now,
Paul

Wendy...

Looking at this from a programmer's point of view...
If the numbers are EXACTLY the same, why do you need them in the cross
reference file? Since the number is already on the IIM and valid for
all
order entry and manufacturing purposes, it would seem redundant to me to

have the information in 2 places.
Is there some functionality missing by just having the number in the IIM

and not the EIX?

Just curious!

Re: [BPCS-L] Customer Item # & your Item # the same ORD150

We are on 8.2.01 -- This version will let you enter them - but when you
go

to enter an order or EDI - it cannot find the part, like it does not
exist. Infor says can not have internal and customer item number be the

same - if they are, EIX is skipped and IIM is looked at. They have no
work around nor any plans for one.

This does not make any sense to me! On a couple of customers it is
critical that the number is the same. Does anyone have a work around?

One of our customers bought us out - we are now making some of their
parts

in one of our factories - the plant has to deal with their engineering
group on issues for these parts - need to speak at least same part
number
language - and we "sell" parts to them - someday will probably merge
systems - for so many reasons we need these to be the same.

Why can't the Customer's item# and our item # be the same in ORD150?
