Don't know about Version 8, but there is a problem with Version 6 and V5R4.
SQLRPG Programs compiled at v4rx which use a descending key do not work on V5R4 correctly.
IBM are creating aPTF to correct this.

Hello,

Support for BPCS and LX on V5R4 has not yet been announced by SSA. A
project is underway to test SSA products on this release of the
operating system. When support is announced, it will be listed on the
OnePoint support website, and I will post a link here to the Info APAR
for BPCS/LX for that i5 release listing any required IBM PTFs or SSA
BMRs.

Thanks,
