Roger,

Joe Walsh is right on target with his suggestion to use SFC650 or JIT600
with forced locations, IF your problem is not being created due to
bill-of-material problems. When I read your initial question I wondered if
you are trying to fix an ongoing inventory problem that is more a result
of inaccurate bill-of-material quantities. If that is the case, it doesn't
matter what approach you use, you will just continue to get wrong
information, just faster.

If the initial problem is due to yield or scrap issues as Al has
suggested, then that would be completely different, but backflushing will
adjust requirements at later operations if yield or scrap is detected in
upstream operations on the routing. If you are dealing with scrap and
yield, the "M" transaction will not address the problem adequately. My
suggestion before you begin to make further changes is to identify exactly
what the underlying problems are (B/M, unreported scrap, unreported yield,
lack of discipline with transaction reporting on the floor, poor inventory
accuracy at stocking locations). Then you can be proactive with your
approach to correct the problem rather than reactive to the situations
caused by the problem.

Re: [BPCS-L] Query on Back flushing

   Roger

In order for BPCS to do what you are requesting you must use the BPCS
backflush programs, either JIT600 or SF650 (depending on your version)
and
not use the multiple issue method through INV500 (M transaction). In
addition you must set up forced locations that the system will look
towrds
as the place to issue from. There are many options and ways to set up
   this kind of process.
