Why don't you go to www.midrange.com then select mailing lists, then before signing up for any one in particular, check the archives to see the volume of e-mail on that list.

If you get a handful of e-mails here a day, at most 25 a week, with midrange_L you might get 10,000 in one day, so in addition to selecting the list whose content is more to your educational needs, there is also the question of volume of that content that your brain and your computer can absorb. A major reason why I am no longer on some lists.

There are also some lists hosted by some of the iSeries 400 magazines and some of them have different subscription options ... you can go to one that is on QUERY, which includes SQL, Query/400, other kinds of query ... then you select which threads to send stuff to your mailbox when there is more traffic there, so you not get the whole thing. Some of these cost $ to join.

If you are into blogging, you can subscribe to links to subject headings in the archives, and only go after detail content that interests you ... but there are two problems with that:
1. A lot of people post stuff in which there is a big time mismatch between subject heading and actual content. So you are going to miss an awful lot that is relevant to you, if you just go by the subject heading, and also have some of your time wasted.
2. Subscribing in this way does not grant you the right to post stuff to the list ... you still have to fill up your mailbox with traffic that not interest you, to get at the stuff that does.

Hello All,

What is the URL for the iSeries version of this mailing list. My need for knowledge is turning away from BPCS and more to the iSeries in general.

Thanks,
