Suggest you check to see if BPCSDOC file is within your BPCS library list.
There should be a member in there that is specific to DRP which tells you the sequence in which the various MRP DRP CAP planning runs ought to be done.
We are using parts of DRP, so it works for us, but ... lets just say that we were motivated by wanting to have the smallest learning curve for our people in THE SYSTEM rather than seeking the most efficient way to use it.

You need to be running your facilities using BPCS facilities ... was that available at version 4.0.2? I not remember which BPCS version that came in at.

You also want to take a look at Customer Order Types.
There is one type that is really a DRP order ... we call them INTER FACILITY orders or INTER COMPANY orders. For us they are coded so that the product will move between the facilities, the requirements work just like outside customer orders, the requirements get relieved, the inventory is accurate, but there is no billing to ourselves through the accounting.

We have items in which we consider them to be the same items.
They are made in facility E (such as leads for a wiring harness)
They are used as components in facility L
Same item #
Facility E has the BOM and Routings to make the leads
Facility L uses the exact same item #

Difference is how we use the coding in the facility specific file CIC managed by MRP140, and some modifications to enforce some coding standards.

This can go both ways, while facility E makes leads for facility L
facility L makes blocks for facility E
same item #, different coding at the facility level

again, we not using DRP the right way, but OUR way, which might not work for you.

Greetings,

We are on BPCS 4.0.2 and have a situation that I think DRP might be the
tool that we need to utilize. So far I haven't been able to set things up
correctly in our test database to get the results that I'm expecting.
About ten years ago I used to know how MRP/MPS worked but I haven't used it
since then and have forgotten a bit of what I knew.

We have three facilities. In addition to their own customer orders
facility 1 currently manufactures component parts for facilities 2 and 3.
We now have some new finished good parts at facility 2 that will use a
component built by facility 3. This component has a component part in it
built by facility 1. What we want is facility 2's requirements to generate
requirements that trickle down for facilities 3 and 1.

In DRP100 for facility 1 we currently have entries for *ALL from facility 1
to both 2 and 3. What do I need to do to set things up for these new
parts? Do individual entries need to be set up for parts going "backwards"
from 2 to 3 to 1? How does DRP500 fit in with MRP500 and MRP600? I have
tried running DRP500 but I'm a bit confused as to the correct order to list
the facilities so that the planning is done correctly. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
