Sue, If you need additional components to cover the losses in material, use the BOM component scrap factor. If you must make 2% more of the parent to get your requirements and not only use 2% more of the components and capacity, then use yield. In many cases I have used both. For example, items like screws, rivets, etc, I have had to use a component scrap factor as high as 10%.
