All,
I am a new BPCS user but have a strong systems (SAP) background.
I need user documentation that:
More people can help you here if you let us know
* What version of BPCS are you on ... like I am on 405 CD
* What hardware platform you on ... AS/400 iSeries HP Windoze whatever
* What version operating system for that platform
* How BPCS talks to you ... eg. I am on a mixed mode system
* Do you have BPCS security authority?
How to access stuff, what you can access, how it works, what all BPCS can
do, what is broken, the precise names of the programs, this all varies by
BPCS version.
Other reasons for these answers is that there is a lot of stuff that an
ordinary BPCS user cannot get into, for reasons of security and stupidity
of BPCS design ... for example at our version, we have to jump through
security hoops to give our users access to basic documentation
Be aware that BPCS does not need a data coordinator.
Many computer systems need a data base administrator.
This is generally not true for systems running on AS/400 or iSeries
unless you have a non-standard operating system, for the 400, such as Oracle
If you are running BPCS without a lot of modifications or user ignorance
then you probably do not need a data coordinator
I call myself a computer janitor, but that is a part time job ... I can go
for weeks without having to do any data base cleanups ... because 90% of
the time that we need to clean something up is because of human error, and
10% are doe to the ********* bugs in BPCS
