I guess the real heart burn comes because you must set up a new QMS
item/manufacturer combination for each item/facility combination. You could
set up a single spec with no tests for all items in facilities that do not
use QMS but still need a "Q" receipt status. The dispositions could be
cleared by automatic approval. This would involve setting up
item/manufacturer combinations with the "no test" spec.

What happens is that, if there are no specs loaded, the status of the new
lot number is automatically "A" ... even though the item is set in the
item master as a quality controlled item. (Because QMS is installed, the
system flag for default status has to be set to "A".) I'm getting ready
to modify SFC738 to check for the existance of a spec ... if there is not
a spec, and it's a QC controlled item, I'll set the status to "Q".

Any better ideas?

You load the manufacturer through QMS165. You will also need "Default Qty
per Container" on the quality screen of INV100. It worked for me in V8.

As far as load the specs, at what point does the system force you to load
specs? Do you mean it's creating dispositions with samples and tests?

Eduardo ... We use QMS and JIT in 4.05, nonCD, and it works very well. I
am far from an expert in QMS, except to know that there is an awful lot of

set up involved. The one thing I didn't see you mention was loading a
default manufacturer for a manufactured item (it's stored in the IIM file,

but I don't know if you load it through item master maintenance, or
through QMS). I don't know if that's required, but I do know that all of
our manufactured items have one! (We have multiple facilities, so created

a manufacturer Q01, for facility 01, Q02, for facility 02, etc. Not sure
what happens if you manufacture the same item at multiple locations ...
that doesn't normally happen for us.)

We're actually trying to solve a related problem right now, where we have
some facilities that don't want to use QMS, but, since the QMS flag is
turned on, it's forcing them to load the specs, even though they don't use

them. Haven't quite found the right work around for that.

        Subject: QMS with JIT

Hi all,

Does someone know if QMS works with JIT? Or for that matter, how does it
work?... we tried to run it in our test environment but it didn't work,
these were the steps we followed:

* We setup the item so it could work for QMS.
* Then we went to MRP510 (MRP Maintenance) to create firm
planned
orders.
* JIT540 (Production Release) to create the production
plan.
* JIT550 (Shop Floor Control) to create shop packets and
production
orders.
* JIT600 (Production Reporting) to report the production.
This is
where we have the problem because in this option BPCS does not allow us to
enter the manufacturer, which is necessary for creating QMS tests.
*                JIT600 to release production (F14).

Do we need to setup some system parameters/flags? Or do we need to do it
in
a different way?.. any help will be very appreciated.

Thank you,
