I suggest you build a couple of programs through which you can upload spreadsheet data reliably to the AS/400. We do this through a combination of saving the spreadsheet in dif format, uploading to the AS/400, reconstituting the columns and rows on the AS/400 into a simple flat file and then using another program to update budget information. The programming for any one of these steps is not that complicated. A more modern approach would be to use VBA and ODBC. Learning how to use VBA and spreasheets seems to be of strategic importance for the future. Details: I have our sales people collecting intelligence on napkins, toilet paper, notebooks, pda's and over the phone; they key it in excel spreadsheets and pass selected information to our marketing department who re-key it, slice it dice it and add their own intelligence to their own spreadsheet. They pass it along to their marketing secretaries - who re-key it to BPCS. they then print a forecast for use in the sales and operation planning and after the meeting they make changes to their own spreadsheet so they can pass it along to a marketing secretary to, re-key it. > > Steve > Intermatic Inc > (815) 675-7469 > _______________________________________________ This is the SSA's BPCS ERP System (BPCS-L) mailing list To post a message email: BPCS-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/bpcs-l or email: BPCS-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/bpcs-l.
