Al Another point on the manufacturing mode data- If you are using the Manufacturing method (bill of material and routing) then you can set firm planned orders for the specific method that you want to use. When you review the FPO in MRP you can identify the FPO for the alternate method because they will have a slightly different coding (at least they do on the 6.1 version. The primary method looks like FPO. The alternate has "XF.P.O" in that column.) If you do issue FPO for the item with the alternate method then the system will plan to produce that way (children on the alternate BOM will plan) and when you release from the planned order the shop order will automatically have that alternate BOM and alternate routing.
