If you could restore your machine response time to what it used to be when BPCS was first implemented, would you still be forced to move to a different box? Used well, Locksmith for BPCS can accomplish that degree of response time improvement. Locksmith(tm) archives historical data from elected BPCS environments and places it elsewhere on the system in a way that sustains user access. The integrity of BPCS file relationships is respected and maintained. http://www.unbeatenpathintl.com/locksmith_bpcs.htm Even if you were forced to move to a different box for reasons other than response time, Locksmith still is a wise investment. Why? Because after archiving BPCS with Locksmith, you'll be able to cut the size of the new processor you would otherwise have to order from IBM. It's another way Unbeaten Path takes the tarnish off BPCS: http://www.unbeatenpathintl.com/Tarnish_off_BPCS.pdf Warm regards and God bless, Milt Habeck Managing Partner Unbeaten Path International North America toll free: (888) 874-8008 International voice: (262) 681-3151 mhabeck@xxxxxxxxxx +++++++ +++++++ +++++++ +++++++ ++++++ ++++++ ----- Original Message ----- From: Bill To: BPCS-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, July 16, 2003 4:39 PM Subject: Moving On to Another Software System For those of you that haven't checked recently, SSA is no longer insisting on 10 thousand dollars for a new software key - they are now demanding the restoration of software maintenance and the payment of a penalty that could equal the revenue lost by not keeping maintenance current. It is due to their unrelenting attitude and the final price tag that one company is looking to move away from BPCS and on to another package. So, my question to you is: If you were in the same predicament, which package would you prefer to move on to or what package have you heard good things about? Let's assume that staying on the AS/400 is a requirement. (I strongly recommend everyone not on current maintenance to contact SSA and find out what the impact would be to your company. This issue could have an extreme impact on the viability of your company and no one should encounter this situation unprepared). Bill
