Antonio,

Have you downloaded the ECM help files from OGS? Among other things, the
ECM help identifies all of the ECM files involved in a particular
transaction set and which fields need to have data mapped to them. There is
a lot of setup work that needs to be done in ECM as well. This includes
Trading Partners, Entities, DataDocks, and ECAs. Once you have all the i's
dotted and the t's crossed, it works like a charm. Unfortunately, you can
develop several grey hairs in the process!

I attended SSA's training for ECM about 5 years ago. It was informative,
and the student guide has been very useful reference material, but I still
wasn't very well equipped to get ECM up and running from scratch. We ended
up bringing in a consultant to get the first transaction going. I'm sure
SSA's training for ECM has improved in the last five years, but you still
may want to seriously consider bringing in a seasoned consultant to get you
going. Make sure he's done multiple new implementations of ECM and has set
up the particular documents you're needing.

I can definitely understand your frustration. Sorry I haven't provided any
real specifics in regards to what to set up to get your orders going, but
there are so many things involved that it would be very hard to cover them
all here in the detail you would need.

Best of Luck,

Debbie Ivey

Subject: ECM Neophite

Hello everyone I am pretty new to the AS400 world and even newer to ECM. I
am trying to use ECM along with Extol and I have been to training for Extol
but I am having the worst time trying to get a class scheduled through SSA
GT. I have mapped data from Extol into my BPCS tables but I am stuck on how
to get data into BPCS (Sales Orders). I have tried to read all the help
information that was available but to no avail.

My question is whether or not anyone can lead me in the right direction as
far as "getting started' with ECM. This has been very irritating and it is
not very productive for me.

Anything would help while I try to get a class set up through SSA.

I am currently trading through Harbinger's Trustedlink for Windows and I am
trying to integrate EDI to the 400 where the transactions that I would like
to process are:

850's, 810's, 997's and 856's.

TIA
