Dan,

We had some of the same issues. We chose to use the Formulator Code field
in the MRP140 record. We populated items with MTO or MTS.
We did a slight mod to MRP510 and MRP300 to have this show up under the
Available amt.

        Subject: MTO v MTS

We manufacture a number of products, some of which are Make to Stock (MTO)
and some of which are Make to Order (MTO). It is important to us,
especially in planning, to understand when an item is one or the other. We
can't seem to find a good way in the item master or the facility master to
designate this information about the item.

What approaches have others taken?
