Hi, We're on 4.05 CD and haven't done much w/ e-Commerce yet... But one of the paths I started to explore was utilizing some of the web options that are free w/ most AS/400s (4.5 and above), i.e., Web Facing, iWA, Host Publisher, Net.Data, and WebSphere. I went to a free seminar on these tools last year (sponsored by Foresight). It amazed me on how much you could do quickly w/ your existing applications without touching the RPG code. According to the speaker, w/ Web Facing, you can have web pages created on the fly then customize then later, as needed... Although these tools are free, your IS staff would need to be trained in them along w/ Java. Food for thought. Our organization is in the process of moving towards e-commerce which I know can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Ultimately, our goal is to improve communications with our customers. We can crawl into this by running queries/reports on the AS/400 and then e-mailing them to customers or posting to a website via ftp. In the latter case, I'm not sure of the best way to limit specific customers to seeing just their orders. Any suggestions? In the longer term, we are exploring LANSA's Smartweb for BPCS. We are on the ancient version of 3.1 with Nexgen Y2K mods. Has anybody out there had much experience in using LANSA? Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
