We are way behind on version 4 something, and also used to be way behind
other companies when we were on BPCS/36 but even though we were never a
'guinea pig' we almost always got bugs delivered with upgrades. How come,
if companies installing new versions report back to SSA about the problems,
and SSA fixes them, and along we come months or even years after everyone
else, all the problems should be fixed right?

Well no 2 companies are identical. Everyone is using different
combinations of settings and programs, so not all problems are going to be
caught and fixed before we more cautious installers. Thus, whether you
first or last, you need to figure out how you going to test what you get,
and how you going to deal with breakages. Topic perhaps for different
discussion threads, because what is most likely to blow up depends on kind
of computer platform you on and other variables.
