Mine's not that simple. I'm fighting a losing battle against entrenched policies. We have a part number for each of several grades of steel - but we buy it by the pound, no matter what the dimension is - then issue it by the inch. In other words, a 4" long piece of 1x1 steel is issued as 'each', but so is a 2" piece of 8" diameter.....I'll never win. Basically, we just buy it and inventory it by the pound and ignore the issues, using physical counts to keep track of it. -----Original Message----- From: bpcs-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:bpcs-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Bill Sent: Monday, March 25, 2002 4:19 PM To: bpcs-l@midrange.com Subject: Re: RAW MATERIAL BAR STOCK Actually, Rob, that might not be that difficult. We have a situation here where we buy a liquid product in pounds and stock in gallons. We asked the manufacturer for the proper conversion factor and used that. There might be some differences occur, but they are cleaned up in Cycle Counts.
