Generally speaking, your statement is correct.  I have actually used the
AS/400 CPYF command to purge really old ECH/ECL records (by HEDTE and HID)
with no ill effects.  Check also the ESN and ECS files for corresponding
order data.  There are also three clean up programs (ORD990, INV971 and
SYS990) that I would run after such an action.  This same procedure could be
used for RMA and Quote members.  One concern would be to determine how much
history needs to be kept online for customer service reference.

Records with HID CZ and status 8 are complete and invoiced, status E orders
with HID CZ were deleted before any shipment.
