Thanks Lisa

You have given me something else to check out.
We never run SYS190.

The older BPCS we used to be on did not even have facilities, so we had to
have a separate environment, called a BPCS data base in those legacy days,
for each facility.

Our staff is not supposed to accept customer orders for which any components
would be past due at time of order input, without first getting the approval
of the people who would have to expedite the past due stuff, or to make any
changes in customer requirements that would incite lead time violations,
without proper consultation.

In other words, the company is perfectly willing to accept a customer order
that can only get to the customer by expediting some stuff, but the internal
rules are that we do not do this by springing surprises on each other. We do
not want such activity to mess up the production of other customers or other
parts, without the permission of the customers - example, some customers will
tell us that it is legitimate to delay work on some of their parts because
these other ones, that use much of the same components & production capacity,
are more urgently needed by them.

However, having a plan & having everyone follow it perfectly are two separate
animals, so if anyone inadvertently breaks the company rules, we like it that
the MRP does not process those violations. Changing MRP120 date does that
for us.

The reason our first period is one week is that in the nature of our
business, the volumes that we do for one day work ... imagine a setup taking
20 minutes, and the actual production run being over in 1 minute. With that
kind of ratio, we really need to be doing a week or two work in one go.
