Rick, To do any type of production reporting in BPCS, you must have opened a shop order or production order (done in JIT). Yes, JIT lets you report by item, but the programming applies that qty to the oldest open order, so less tracking is required on the shop floor. There are numerous release mechanisms in BPCS, many are very easy and quick. Closing of shop orders is done programmatically(CST900 or SFC900) if the qty rec'd equals or exceeds the qty ordered, so there shouldn't be that much time spent on closing them.
